While working on the North Slope and other locations, I was often away from home for long periods of time. Now during retirement, I have time for fun pursuits and hobbies. I have obtained a Ham Radio license, and I am able to talk to other amateur radio operators all over the world, without any expensive equipment, using mostly digital methods. I also am a member of local clubs where we meet weekly on the radio and offer our communications expertise during natural disasters (wildfires, floods, earthquakes, etc.) to local emergency responders.
Also, I have time to explore astronomy, physics and the night sky. I have a smart telescope to wander the solar system and beyond.
Travel has been more available, fun and relaxing. We’ve visited family and interesting destinations.
Reading literature, personal growth and science topics is very rewarding.
Lastly, retirement is all it’s cracked up to be, and more–Enjoy!
